FMCSA Issues Regional Emergency Declaration for Fuel Hauling in Eight States

On January 16, 2023, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration declared a Regional Emergency, providing relief for Hours of Service in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming.

FMCSA declared this emergency due to a refinery closure in Colorado, severe winter storms, and high fuel demand in these affected states. Motor carriers and drivers providing direct assistance to this emergency transporting gasoline, diesel, or jet fuel into these states are granted this relief until the end of the emergency or until 11:59 PM (ET) on February 15, whichever is earlier.
