Iowa Extends Trucking Weight Proclamation for Several Bulk Commodities

On November 22, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds extended the state’s Harvest Proclamation relating to the transportation of grain, fertilizer, and manure. This proclamation was originally signed on September 30 and was extended again on October 28.

The extended proclamation allows vehicles transporting corn, soybeans, hay, straw, silage, stover, fertilizer (dry, liquid, and gas), and manure (dry and liquid) to be overweight (not exceeding 90,000 pounds gross weight) without a permit for the duration of this proclamation. Additional rules and restrictions apply. The extension in its entirety can be accessed by clicking here.

Governor Reynolds previously signed a separate proclamation on October 28 regarding overweight transportation of motor fuels. This proclamation has yet to be extended, and is currently set to expire on November 27 unless further action is taken.

NTTC staff will continue to monitor these and other emergency declarations, and will broadcast updates when available.
