I have an old MC306 trailer that I no longer plan to use in gasoline service, but will use to deliver home heating oil. Do I have to keep doing the Part 180 tests and inspections?

Answer:

If you no longer plan to use the trailer for products requiring a specification trailer, you may remove the specification plate or block it out so it’s no longer visible. Be sure to make a notation in the trailer’s file. You would no longer be required to conduct the Part180 test and inspections since you are no longer representing to the public that the vehicle is a specification trailer.
